Florida CCC Museum

Florida Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Museum at Highlands Hammock State Park

The CCC Museum is a joint venture of the State of Florida and the National Association Of CCC Alumni ( NACCCA). The original funding for the building came from a 1990 grant to the Florida Division of Parks and Recreation from the Florida Department Of State. The CCC Alumni donated the archival materials, the collection objects and the museum sign.  The museum building was one of the CCC structures at the park, completed in 1939. The displays were first shown at the site when it opened during an annual CCC festival in November, 1994.  In November 2003 a major $250,000.00 interior display renovation was dedicated in celebration of the 70th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's creation of the CCC.

The museum contains displays celebrating the CCC work done in eight Florida parks:

  • Highlands Hammock -Sebring
  • Myakka Ruver - Sarasota
  • Hillsborough River - Thonotosassa
  • Gold Head Branch - Keystone Heights
  • O'Leno - High Springs
  • Fort Clinch - Fernandina Beach
